Safe drone cleaning

EWS use the latest cleaning technology to deliver safe, efficient and effective results at height. Our specialist vehicles carry advanced equipment designed to handle demanding exterior cleaning projects.

Using modern heavy-lift drones, we can clean windows and building façades without direct surface contact or manual scrubbing. This method provides a safer alternative to conventional access techniques while reducing the potential damage associated with excessive pressure.

By combining drone technology with specialist cleaning systems, we can tackle stubborn contamination and leave surfaces looking bright, clean and free from streaks. Our cutting-edge technology revolutionises cleaning at heights, making it safer, quicker, and more efficient than ever before.

Utilising heavy-lift drone development we are the only company in the UK that can offer both low-pressure and high-pressure cleaning when needed. At every job, we will have at least two fully qualified drone pilots, that have passed the rigorous CAA tests and requirements to be able to skillfully fly heavy-lift drones.

Our main cleaning process is non-contact softwashing using our specially formulated Biodegradable cleaning solutions, these will be adjusted on each job depending on the material and amount of contamination and dirt to clean. Once we have applied the correct solution this is left to work its magic for about 30 minutes, we then rinse off with pure heated deionised water to leave a totally clean and streak-free finish. Our solutions are not just cleaning the outside but also the root of the algae, resulting in a longer-lasting solution.

Our drone washing service is ideally suited for buildings ranging from three to fifteen storeys in height.

Soft Washing

Our biodegradable, environmentally responsible cleaning solutions work below the surface to target dirt, grime and the underlying causes of mould, mildew, algae and moss. By treating growth at its roots, the process helps delay its return, delivers longer-lasting results and reduces ongoing maintenance costs.

A specially formulated foam allows the cleaning solution to cling evenly to the surface. It is left for approximately 30 minutes, giving it time to penetrate deeply and break down stubborn dirt and organic growth.

Deionised Water

Deionised water is highly effective for specialist cleaning because it has been purified to remove minerals, salts and other impurities. Without these dissolved particles, the water readily attracts and lifts contaminants from the surface, helping to remove residual dirt and grime without leaving mineral deposits behind.

After softwashing a building, we complete the process with a thorough deionised-water rinse. This removes any remaining cleaning solution and helps prevent marks, streaks or residue, leaving windows and façades with a clear, polished finish.

Hot Water System

Hot water provides faster and more effective cleaning than cold water by softening stubborn dirt and breaking down grease more efficiently. It also helps loosen difficult deposits, such as bird fouling, from windows and building façades.

The principle is similar to washing dishes in warm water: heat makes it easier to lift and remove grime. Using hot water reduces cleaning time, accelerates drying and helps produce a clean, spot-free finish.

Power Washing

Most exterior cleaning projects can be completed effectively using softwashing and deionised water. However, areas affected by heavy staining, stubborn deposits or dense moss growth may occasionally require pressure washing.

When pressure washing is necessary, we use only the minimum pressure needed to treat the affected area, helping protect the building from unnecessary damage. Where appropriate, specialist cleaning solutions and hot water are also used to loosen contamination and further reduce the required pressure.

Sectors We Specialise In

Safe, efficient and cost-effective drone cleaning solutions for buildings, infrastructure and public facilities.

Modern commercial and industrial building
Commercial

Offices and Industrial Buildings

Clean façades and windows help protect the appearance of commercial properties. Drone cleaning provides a safer, faster and less disruptive alternative to conventional access and cleaning methods.

Solar panels and wind turbines
Energy

Solar, Wind and National Grid

Non-contact drone cleaning helps energy operators improve efficiency while reducing downtime. Biodegradable cleaning solutions remove algae, lichen, fungi and dirt without scratching sensitive surfaces.

Large sports stadium
Sport

Stadiums and Sports Venues

Large stadiums can be challenging to clean because of their scale and restricted access. Drone technology removes the need for heavy access platforms while reducing cost, time and disruption.

Modern public-facing commercial building
Hospitality and Retail

Hotels, Shopping Centres and Superstores

Public-facing buildings need to remain clean without inconveniencing visitors. Drone cleaning can be completed outside normal hours and without moving heavy lifting equipment through busy public areas.

Historic red brick public building
Public Sector

Education, Healthcare and Historic Buildings

Flexible working hours and efficient drone cleaning help minimise disruption to sensitive public facilities. Cleaning pressure and solutions are carefully selected for each building and surface.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Softwashing cleans exterior surfaces without the aggressive contact associated with conventional pressure washing. The cleaning solution penetrates organic growth and treats it at its source, producing a deeper and longer-lasting result while reducing the risk of surface damage.

The softwashing solutions are biodegradable and environmentally responsible. They are carefully diluted and thoroughly rinsed after application. Where bleach-based ingredients are required, they are used at controlled concentrations comparable with those used in swimming pools and water treatment.

Softwashing can be used on roofs, façades, windows, pathways, decking, patios and many other exterior areas. It is suitable for materials including brick, stone, render, wood, vinyl and metal, subject to an appropriate assessment before cleaning.

Softwashing can remain effective considerably longer than pressure washing—often around four to six times longer. Depending on the surface and surrounding environmental conditions, results may last approximately three to five years. Regular maintenance can extend the life of the clean.

The solution is selected according to the surface and the type of contamination present. Specialist formulations are used to treat organic growth such as algae, moss and lichen while protecting the underlying material and surrounding environment.

Yes. Team members receive specialist SoftWash Systems training, including instruction in the safe handling and application of cleaning solutions. Drone Clean UK also carries £5 million in commercial liability insurance for customer protection and peace of mind.

A pressure washer is not a substitute for a dedicated softwashing system because softwashing is specifically a low-pressure process. Pressure or steam equipment may sometimes be used carefully as a preliminary treatment where particularly dense surface growth is present.

Yes. Softwashing is particularly suitable for delicate stone, render and brick because it avoids excessive pressure. High-pressure washing can damage surfaces, remove pointing, cause brick delamination and create opportunities for water to penetrate the building.

Pressure washing mainly removes visible surface contamination. Softwashing treats the underlying organic growth responsible for staining, helping to delay regrowth. This is why a professional softwash can last four to six times longer than pressure washing alone.
