Project Overview
Our team recently completed a vinyl floor removal and adhesive encapsulation project, ensuring the safe handling, removal, and long-term containment of potentially hazardous materials. Older vinyl flooring and adhesives can contain asbestos fibres, which pose serious health risks if disturbed.
For this project, we carried out a controlled removal of the vinyl flooring, followed by professional encapsulation of the adhesive, ensuring compliance with UK asbestos regulations and leaving the site safe for future use.
Asbestos Testing & Risk Assessment
- Conducted asbestos sampling and analysis to determine if the adhesive contained asbestos.
- Developed a risk assessment and safe removal plan in line with HSE guidelines.
- Implemented containment measures to prevent dust and fibre release during removal.
Safe Vinyl Flooring Removal
- Used low-disturbance removal techniques to carefully lift and remove vinyl flooring.
- Applied controlled wetting methods to suppress any potential asbestos fibres.
- Ensured all removed flooring materials were securely sealed in approved hazardous waste bags.
Encapsulation of Adhesive
- Applied a specialist HSE-approved encapsulation coating to seal any remaining asbestos fibres in the adhesive.
- Created a protective barrier, allowing for safe new flooring installation.
- Ensured encapsulation met UK health and safety compliance standards.
Licensed Waste Disposal & Site Clearance
- Transported all asbestos-containing waste to a licensed disposal facility, ensuring legal compliance.
- Provided waste transfer documentation, verifying safe and responsible waste handling.
- Conducted final air quality monitoring and site cleaning, leaving the area safe and asbestos-free.
